Happy (early) Thanksgiving everyone! We've been getting everything ready to go for the upcoming qualifiers and hope everyone has the opportunity to support our FTC and FLL teams as they begin their competition seasons.
We are thankful for everyone who has helped and is continuing to help with our efforts to bring more STEM into the lives of students through FIRST. For Thanksgiving tomorrow, catch the Macy's Day Parade to see a couple of FIRST teams and their robots open up the parade. It is an exciting moment for our FIRST community and we're ecstatic to watch them show off their robots. One team from Texas will be heading up the parade, Texas Torque. So, be sure to show your support and tune in Thanksgiving Day at 9am ET on NBC.
On that note, we would like to shine a light on four people who have been serving as AmeriCorps VISTAs in the Alamo FIRST Region since late August. These four individuals are Clare Entwistle, Ben Nelson, Nickita Sancho and Mariah Noelle Villarreal who come to our region with a vast variety of experiences. They have been supporting the FIRST mission and the Alamo FIRST Region community by creating and supporting FIRST teams in underserved communities. Feel free to give them a warm Texas welcome when you see them at any meetings or events, you'll be sure to see them.
Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving. See you at the qualifiers!
